The reliable way to produce meeting minutes with AI is to transcribe the recording, have AI summarize it, and finish with a human review. For in-person meetings, a recording and transcription app such as Clova Note is the usual choice. For online meetings, the AI built into Google Meet, Zoom or Teams is the common route. This guide draws on material from July to September 2026, and several of the tools covered are Korean services that handle Korean-language meetings well.

What you need: pick a tool that fits the meeting

AI minutes tools fall into four groups: dedicated recording and transcription apps, AI built into video-meeting platforms, general-purpose chatbots, and AI built into smartphones. Choose one based on the type of meeting and your budget.

  • Clova Note (Naver): Naver is South Korea’s largest search portal, and Clova Note is its transcription app. The personal plan is free with 300 minutes a month, rising to 600 minutes if you agree to let Naver use your data. You can upload up to 180 minutes or 300MB at a time. AI summaries are limited to 15 per month and work only on Korean-language notes.
  • Daglo: A Korean transcription service. The free tier gives 4 hours of recording and 4 hours of file or YouTube conversion per month, with ads. Paid Pro starts at ₩11,900 a month (about $8.50 at ₩1,400 per dollar, as of Oct 31, 2026). It does not transcribe live; it converts the audio after the recording ends.
  • Tiro: Another Korean service. It supports live transcription and translation during the meeting and holds ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2 certifications. There is no free plan. Per the App Store listing, Lite is ₩9,900 a month (about $7) for 300 minutes, Pro is ₩22,000 (about $16) for 1,000 minutes including speaker separation, and Max is ₩44,000 (about $31) for unlimited use.
  • AI built into video-meeting tools: Gemini meeting notes in Google Meet, Zoom AI Companion, and Teams Copilot. All three require a paid plan. Zoom AI Companion is reported to be available on Pro and higher paid plans.
  • ChatGPT Record mode: Records a meeting, transcribes it and summarizes it, with a maximum of 4 hours (240 minutes) per session. It is available only in the macOS desktop app, and only on Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans. For a look at the paid tiers, see our comparison of ChatGPT Plus, Claude Pro and Google AI Pro.
  • Galaxy AI (Samsung): The Voice Recorder app’s “Transcript Assist” can turn Korean recordings into text and summarize them. It needs a network connection and a Samsung account login.

In-person meetings in five steps (using Clova Note)

  1. Get consent: Before the meeting, tell attendees you plan to record and use AI to write it up, and get their agreement.
  2. Record or upload: Record directly in the app or upload an existing audio file. Clova Note handles up to 180 minutes or 300MB per upload.
  3. Clean up the transcript: Once transcription finishes, assign speaker names and correct any misrecognized proper nouns and numbers.
  4. Run the AI summary: After the summary runs, check that it includes the summary itself, the decisions, and the action items.
  5. Final human review: Confirm the decisions, owners and deadlines yourself before sharing. The OpenWiki blog describes this split as “AI does the rough draft, a person does the last five minutes.”

Online meetings and smartphones

Google Meet (desktop)

  1. Add a Meet call to the event in Google Calendar.
  2. Under the video call options, open “Meeting records” and tick “Take notes with Gemini” (the label as translated from the Korean interface). You can also turn it on during the meeting.
  3. Check the meeting language. Meet supports eight languages including Korean, but only one language per meeting.
  4. After the meeting, find the Google Docs minutes in the organizer’s Drive and attached to the calendar event. The organizer also receives an email with a link.

Teams and Zoom

Teams Copilot summarizes the meeting including who said what, and suggests tasks. To ask Copilot questions after the meeting ends, you must have the transcript turned on. The default transcript language is English, so change it to the language of the meeting. Zoom AI Companion supports meeting summaries in 35 languages.

Galaxy voice recorder

In the Galaxy Voice Recorder app, pick a file, run the text conversion, then tap the “Summary” tab. If the recording is too short, Galaxy AI will not produce a summary.

Checking the result: standardize the minutes format

If you do not like the summary from your transcription app, export the transcript and paste it into a chatbot such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. Ask it to organize the notes as decisions / open issues / action items with owners and deadlines / agenda for the next meeting. If you reuse the same prompt every time, your team’s minutes will settle into a consistent format. On the finished document, you only need to confirm that the decisions, owners and deadlines are all correct.

Cautions and limits

  • Errors: AI transcription and summaries can get proper nouns, numbers and owners wrong, so a person must verify the decisions. Tiro’s claimed 98% accuracy is the company’s own figure.
  • Security: Check your company policy before uploading confidential meetings to an external cloud. Agreeing to Clova Note’s data use extends your allowance to 600 minutes, but for sensitive meetings it is wise to think carefully before opting in.
  • Language limits: Google Meet’s automatic notes handle only one language per meeting, so they may not suit a meeting that mixes Korean and English.
  • Notifying attendees: Google Meet shows a pencil icon on every participant’s screen while notes are being taken. Whatever tool you use, it is good practice to tell people about the recording in advance.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make AI meeting minutes for free?

Yes. The personal Clova Note plan gives 300 minutes a month for free (600 if you consent to data use), and Daglo converts 4 hours of recordings and 4 hours of files per month at no cost. Tiro and the AI built into video-meeting tools are paid.

Can I buy more Clova Note time if I run out?

Naver’s help pages say personal Clova Note usage time cannot be purchased. If you need more, you can move to Daglo Pro (from ₩11,900 a month, about $8.50) or Tiro Lite (₩9,900 a month, about $7), or use Naver Works, Naver’s business collaboration suite for companies, which starts at ₩18,000 per company per month (about $13) on an annual contract.

How do I handle Zoom, Teams and Meet meetings?

Turn on each service’s built-in AI: Zoom AI Companion, Teams Copilot, or Gemini notes in Meet. All three need a paid plan. If you cannot use the built-in AI, upload the meeting’s recording file to Clova Note or Daglo for transcription.

From the author’s desk

  • Before picking a tool, sort your meetings into two piles: ones that can go to an external cloud and ones that can’t, because Clova Note’s 600-minute data-use option and any upload to a cloud service depend on that answer.
  • Having worked on enterprise security at a network-security integrator, I’d ask your IT team for a short written rule on which meetings may be recorded before anyone starts uploading files.
  • Pick one prompt for decisions, open issues, and action items with owners and deadlines, and keep it in a shared note so every set of minutes looks the same.
  • Check the meeting language first, since Google Meet notes handle one language per meeting and Teams transcripts default to English.
  • Begin with a free tier on one low-stakes meeting, and only move to a paid plan once the review step feels light enough.
